How to Start Recharge Card Printing Business

You may recall that the Government banned the importation of GSM recharge cards/vouchers printed in foreign countries. This has opened up the industry to all players, both big and small. The business is all about you being a small to medium player, a mini franchisee! It is 100% legal; you are going to be dealing with companies that are licensed by NCC.

Printing GSM Vouchers

Before now, printing and selling of GSM vouchers had been a business reserved exclusively for the big distributors. But now all that have changed, it’s all about who is interested. Just considering that recharge card consumption in the country is expected to reach over 80 million each month would make any one who

Designed for the multi-tasker: our newest wireless and power accessories

We’ve been in the smartphone business a long time, and we know how important accessories can be, like when you need a hands-free headset so you can talk safely while on-the-go or when you need a spare battery to keep you powered up through the longest of days. Today, we’re excited to bring you our latest line of wireless and power accessories, developed to make the most of your smartphone.

LOOK, NO HANDS!
We’re all multi-taskers: we make phone calls while running errands and catch up with friends during our commute. With our new Motorola Sliver II wireless headset, you’re always connected, while keeping your hands free for whatever the task may be. Building on the success of the original Elite Sliver headset, the Sliver II has the same discreet design that tucks behind your ear and is virtually unnoticeable. Because not everyone’s ear is the same shape, we’ve added an adjustable speaker stem that fits perfectly to your individual size. HD audio means crystal-clear sound and superior call quality, no matter your surroundings. A long-lasting battery lets you chat for up to five hours and, when used with the portable charging carrying case, you get up to 14 hours of talk time.

And then there’s the BluetoothTM power user: the on-the-go business professional. Grabbing your morning coffee, catching the train or running from one meeting to the next? You’re probably taking a call while doing it, which can prove to be a challenge for you and the person on the other line. Enter the 4-mic Motorola Whisper wireless headset, designed with a retractable boom that delivers state-of-the-art audio quality and clarity. The powerful noise-cancellation technology means you’ll always be heard during those critical meetings, even if you’re stuck at the raucous airport terminal during a flight delay, and the battery will last for up to six hours, enough for even the longest of quarterly earning calls.

If you’re looking to go hands-free just some of the time, the new Motorola Boom wireless headset offers an easy-to-use flip design at an affordable price. Simply flip open when you want to talk, and flip closed when you’re done. You can talk for up to six hours on one charge and choose from multiple wearing styles.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE (AND THEIR DEVICES)
We’ve all been there – you go to use your phone and you are unpleasantly surprised to learn barely any battery remains. Or you grab your tablet to help you enjoy a long plane ride, only to find that its dead. We hate that, and know you do too, which is why we’re continuing our line of portable power accessories.

Our Motorola Power Pack Slim series is here to rescue you from power drain, letting you recharge any Android-powered, Apple or Windows phone, camera, or tablet. It comes in two sizes, so you can pick which works best for you: the 2000 charges the average smartphone battery at least once* and the 4000 can charge up a smartphone at least twice*. Super-thin and pocketable, the Power Pack Slim can even charge two devices at once.

For those of you who just can’t get enough power, we’re introducing the Motorola Power Pack series. They may not be as thin as our Slim series but they are just as convenient and pack extra charge. The 3000 can charge your phone up to one and a half times* and the 6000 can charge your phone a whopping three times*. We’re also planning to make the 3000 available in six fun accent colors.

HOW TO GET OUR NEWEST ACCESSORIES
Motorola Sliver II and Motorola Whisper are available for purchase at AT&T stores starting today and they’ll be also available at Best Buy stores starting September 1. Motorola Boom will be available at Best Buy stores starting August 4. The Motorola Power Pack and Power Pack Slim series will be available at Motorola.com and select retailers later this year, starting with an exclusive black and red version of the Power Pack Slim series that’s coming to Verizon stores mid-August. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Money Market Dealers Wait over CRR hike

Await maturity of N170bn short term assets.

At the financial market yesterday, dealers resorted to a 'wait and see' approach, following the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) decision which targets easy money at the disposal of Nigerian banks.
Amid huge expectations that this decision would spike rates, BusinessDay checks at the money market showed that while there were only about10 basis points reduction across various tenors in the Nigerian Interbank Offer Rates (NIBOR), rate for 7 days money remained unchanged.
The wait and see game by financial market dealers was linked to their expectation of N170billion worth of short term assets which mature into the system today. Though at the Treasury Bills (T-Bills), there was significant sell-off; same as in the bond market –indicating sales pressure on fixed income

Facebook shares soar as users, mobile ads climb

Facebook Inc delivered strong evidence it can thrive on smartphones and tablets on Wednesday, reporting a much better-than-anticipated surge in mobile advertising revenue in the second quarter that ignited
a nearly 17 percent share rally.

The world's No. 1 social network also reported an uptick in daily visitors to its service, allaying worries that a new crop of fast-growing mobile upstarts like WhatsApp and Snapchat could cut into the time consumers spend on Facebook.

Facebook's growing appeal to consumers and advertisers combined to deliver the company's strongest ad revenue growth since the third quarter of 2011. Ad prices, which declined at Google and Yahoo, increased 13 percent at Facebook, Reuters reports.

"Facebook has nearly 700 million people that use the platform daily. There's no bigger audience on the

Destination ‘Ekiti’ beckons

Apart from its famed status as Nigeria's 'home of professors' and Fountain of Knowledge, Ekiti State is arguably one of the places in Nigeria that have developed a clear roadmap for destination marketing.

The Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort is the most popular and most developed tourist site in the state. The warm spring draws hundreds of international and local tourists to the site to unravel the mysterious cold and warm waters flowing side by side.

According to experts, it is a geological wonder to have such occurrence out of the same rock formation and this Ekiti flagship tourist destination is said to be the only one of its kind discovered anywhere in the world. The warm and cold springs flow from a close proximity, come to a meeting point (a unique attraction to tourists), and flow onward together with each spring retaining its thermal identity. The warm spring has a temperature of up to 70° Celsius at the source and 37° Celsius after meeting the cold

New Updates for Native Windows Barcode Font Encoder DLL

by Nate Schubert

Barcode Fonts Require Special Encoder Tools to Correctly Format Data

IDAutomation barcode fonts are known for their flexibility and ease of use. As with any barcode font, the data you want to encode needs to be formatted correctly in order to generate a barcode that can be successfully scanned by readers. IDAutomation provides special font encoder tools that can easily encode this data, taking out the complex calculations normally required to format the data manually. These font encoder tools are free to use with any of our linear barcode font demo packages or purchased downloads.

Data is entered, then encoded, and finally combined with the font to create a readable barcode.

Most recently, the IDAutomation development team has completed an upgrade to the Native Windows Barcode Font Encoder DLL which can be used in any Windows-based application or development environment that calls a method from a DLL. Written in C++ without any COM or MFC dependencies, this tool has always been an excellent solution for businesses around the globe. The latest release includes the following important symbology-specific updates:

  • UPC-E data that ends with 3, 05, 06, 07, 08 or 09 now encodes and scans correctly without producing any errors or conflicts.
  • Fixed encoding conflicts when generating Code 128 barcodes using the IDAutomation_Uni_C128 method with the Universal Font Encoder Package.
This latest update is most beneficial to those who must generate UPC-E barcodes as well as others who are using the IDAutomation_Uni_C128 method to generate Code 128 barcodes. There is no cost to download the latest version of this tool, as it may be freely used with the purchase of any of our linear font packages or comparable demo.

I’ll Establish Shea Butter Processing Plant in Nigeria - UK-based Business Owner

Emi & Ben, a natural skin-care company founded in the United Kingdom
in 2009, depends on shea butter produced by rural women in Nigeria.
Ronke Ige, founder/CEO, Emi & Ben, in this interview with OLUYINKA
ALAWODE, speaks on the business and the company's growth plans.
Excerpts:

Inspiration

This business idea came about because of my love for shea butter. While I was growing up with my my brother and sister in London, my parents always used shea butter as a moisturiser to tend our skins. However, it is not readily available in the UK, so every time any of my family members was travelling to Nigeria, my parents would always get or tell the person to bring back shea butter for

The Role of the Board Chairman

The Chairman of the Board is Primus Inter Pares (the first among equals or first among peers) on the Board of Directors of every company and typically elected by members of the Board of Directors who
also determine the period for which he/she is to hold office. In other jurisdictions, the Chairman of the Board is elected annually by members of the Board at the first Board meeting after each Annual  General Meeting or between Annual General Meetings upon the resignation, death, disqualification or removal of an incumbent
Chairman. The Chairman should be a non-executive director and it is desirable that he/she should satisfy any independence standards set by the Board, applicable law or relevant Corporate Governance Code and
best practice.

Selecting a Board Chair is a very important process in the life of any company. Most organizations adopt the democratic approach spelt out in the Companies and Allied Matters Act by voting for one of them to

Sales Promotion with Trackable Coupons

Track Coupons Using Global Coupon Numbers (GCN)

You are a retailer, coupon issuer, distributor or a marketing agency and would like to distribute and track coupons?

Then you should think about applying for standardized and globally unique numbers for such purposes. Starting this year (2013) the GS1 organization in Belgium and Luxembourg maintains and issues global coupon numbers. Because such a GCN is based on the GS1 company prefix, it is worldwide unique.

Personalized and Non-Personalized Coupons

For non-personalized coupons only the so-called GCN part 1 is required to identify a coupon. For personalized coupons the coupon issuer needs to utilize GCN part 2 (basically a serial number) as well.

In addition each coupon must be assigned a coupon value.

GS1 DataBar Expanded for Coupons

Based on the available space on your coupon, select either the GS1 DataBar Expanded or the GS1 DataBar Expanded Stacked bar-code symbology.

The GS1 DataBar barcode encodes the GCN using application identifier AI (255). The value of the coupon is encoded by means of AI (390x). It is required that such a GS1 DataBar starts with AI (255) followed by AI (390x). The use of AI (01) along with AI (255) in a single coupon barcode is forbidden.

The barcode must be applied to each coupon. It does not matter whether you distribute paper coupons, eCoupons (printed by the customer) or digital coupons (e.g. coupons received and presented with smartphones).

GCN Barcode Maker Software

TEC-IT's barcode creator software Barcode Studio V15.1 was recently extended with a convenient assistant to support the creation of GCN barcodes with AI (255):

Barcode Studio's Global Coupon Number Assistant
Barcode Studio is a professional tool for creating bar codes. Single bar-codes as well as series of bar-codes are created in no time at all. Barcode data can be entered manually or imported from CSV files. The created bar codes are exported as bitmap or vector images for further processing. Barcode Studio V15.1, which also incorporates simple label printing functions, is available for Windows and Mac OS X.

A free, fully functional 10-day trial is available for download:

Barcode Studio for Mac OS X
