The new patent pending Native Barcode Generator for Oracle Reports is an easy-to-use object that may be embedded into an Oracle Report to create barcode images without the installation of additional fonts or other components. It is the complete barcode generator that stays in the report, even when it is distributed or accessed from a server. Supported symbologies include Code 3 of 9, GS1-128, Interleaved 2 of 5, Code 128, POSTNET and PLANET. More information about the IDAutomation Native Barcode Generator for Oracle Reports, including a download of the evaluation version, is provided at: http://www.idautomation.com/oracle/native/
We have updated the PostNet Barcode Package to now include the Intelligent Mail barcode that the USPS implemented in March of 2007. Intelligent Mail (AKA OneCode Solution Barcode) is the new barcode symbology used to track and sort letters and contains a suite of services, including the Confirm Service, which is referred to as OneCode Confirm, and the Address Change Service, which is referred to as OneCode ACS. More information about the IDAutomation USPS Postnet & Intelligent Mail Barcode Font Package, including a download of the evaluation version, is provided at: http://idautomation.com/fonts/postnet/ If the product was purchased and you would like to obtain the update, please refer to the Priority Support and Upgrade Subscription Renewal section of this newsletter.
IDAutomation.com has released a new version of their ActiveX controls to address a possible vulnerability caused by the use of insecure libraries inherit to ActiveX technologies. Under very specific conditions, the vulnerability could allow a DOS attack to take place on the effected system. The latest release of all IDAutomation’s ActiveX products implement secure libraries which eliminate the possibility of such attacks. This vulnerability also applies to the Windows DLLs and ActiveX Controls included in the PDF417 and DataMatrix Font and Encoder packages.
If the product was purchased and you would like to obtain the update, please refer to the Priority Support and Upgrade Subscription Renewal section of this newsletter.
We have just added new hardware to our inventory: The APC Touch Biometric Pod Password Manager biometrically identifies users and gives them convenient access to password protected applications and web sites simply by placing their fingertip on the Biopod sensor. The Versakey Compact POS USB Keyboard has just been introduced and is ideal for applications where space is an issue. It features a 3 year warranty, 3 track magnetic stripe reader and USB interface. The IDTech MiniMag USB MagStripe Reader is just 90mm long and will read up to three tracks of information with a single swipe in either direction. A tone and three-color LED indicator will indicate a successful read. View our scanner index for other models to fit your needs:

Using POS to Improve Customer Satisfaction
A retail business runs on accurate information or it doesn't run well. In its elastic ability to gather and store customer information and selectively retrieve it in hard copy or electronic reports, POS technology can help isolate existing clientele groups based on an almost infinite variety of business-dictated parameters in hundreds of ways. Accurate data based on criteria such as: location, sales history in dollar amounts, items bought, time of year, price range, age, sex, marital status, children, items favored, popular styles, sizes, colors, brands, etc. can help determine trends.
